Defossilization, Energy Efficiency and
Renewables Working Group
Overview of the Green New Deal Virginia’s Defossilization, Energy Efficiency and Renwables Working Group

The Green New Deal, much like its predecessor, the New Deal, is designed as a series of policy changes that will fundamentally change the way we work and live. The GNDVA will ensure that Virginia is a leader in renewable energy, makes no new commitments to fossil fuel use and infrastructure, and helps Virginians maintain energy efficiency in their homes and businesses.

The focus of DEER is a just transition to a carbon-free Virginia through:
· A moratorium on all fossil-fuel projects and similar fuel projects
· Switching to 100% clean renewable energy by 2035
· Strengthening energy efficiency goals in the state
We accomplish all of our policy goals by keeping the intersectionality between economic, social and environmental issues at the forefront of all our policies.
